Paul Clark

Director of HPC Systems

I joined EPCC in February 2018, after 4 years as Head of IT for the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.  Previously, among other roles, I was Service Delivery Manager in Lothian and Borders Police/Police Scotland for a number of years, managing a team of 25+ and had responsibility for delivering all IT systems and Infrastructure to support 24/7/365 operational policing.

In my role I am responsible for the Advanced Computing Facility out at Easter Bush and will manage a number of staff within EPCC who develop, architect, commission and support our complex Tier 1 and Tier 2 large-scale systems, including the Data Centre itself. A large influencing factor in this will be the next generation of high performance computing infrastructure, alongside key involvement in the Edinburgh International Data Facility programme as part of the City Deal for Edinburgh and South East Scotland.

My original university degree is in Computer Networks and Distributed Systems, and I am happy to have returned to my original passion of large-scale computing infrastructure.
