Distributed European Computing Initiative: Call for Proposals (Tier 1)

Resources are available on the following architectures: Cray XC30/Cray XC40, Intel clusters (various processor and memory configurations) and hybrid systems (clusters with GPGPU accelerators or Xeon Phi Co-processors (KNC)). Applicants need not specify a particular machine or architecture, but if they do, we will endeavour to take these preferences into account.

DECI is designed for projects requiring access to resources not currently available in the PI's own country but where those projects do not require resources on the very largest (Tier-0) European Supercomputers or very large allocations of CPU. On occasions projects may be placed on a machine within the PI's own country. Individual projects are limited to a maximum of 5 million machine hours (average award per project expected to be around 2.4 million machine hours).

The DECI-14 call is managed by the PRACE Optional Programme with support from PRACE AISBL. Thanks to the collaboration with the pan-European Collaborative Data Infrastructure (EUDAT CDI), this call is open for joint project pilots which require to couple DECI Tier-1 resources and services for long-term data management and preservation. Around 1 PB (1000 TB) of storage capacity, approximately 150 TB per project awarded, is available for this call. EUDAT guarantees data storage at one or several of its sites across Europe for at least 24 months after the end of the DECI optional program grant, free of charge. Projects are invited to indicate a preferred EUDAT site.
