EPCC at Doors Open Days 2024

EPCC will have a presence at two of the Doors Open Days events organised by the University of Edinburgh this year. Come along to try our demos and ask us anything about supercomputers, quantum computing, or data science.

Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) 

10am-4pm, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of September.
Find us in the large event space “Market Hall”. No registration required. · 

Come to the EFI for a virtual tour of ARCHER2, the UK National Supercomputing Service operated by EPCC, and see what a real supercomputer looks like. You can also play the part of a computer in a simple task to learn how supercomputers achieve such incredible performance. Our experts will be on hand to answer all your questions about computing and supercomputers. Come and test their knowledge!

Bayes Centre 

10am–2pm, Sunday 29th September. 
We'll be in the Bayes Centre atrium on the ground floor. Registration is required.

At the Bayes Centre, where most EPCC staff are based, we will be offering a virtual tour of ARCHER2. We'll also have Wee Archie, our model supercomputer based on Raspberry Pis. Wee Archie uses the same principles employed by ARCHER2, the UK national supercomputing service, but at a much-reduced scale.
